Hi, I’m Joyce
a visual artist, art educator, and designer with a deep love for folk art, storytelling, and the quiet magic found in everyday life. My work blends illustration, surface pattern design, and handcrafted objects with a style rooted in warmth, texture, and simplicity.
After more than twenty years as a graphic designer and corporate news page designer, I developed a strong foundation in layout, color, and visual clarity. That experience shaped the clean, intentional approach you’ll see in my artwork today—whether I’m illustrating botanicals, designing prints, or carving out new ideas for clay earrings and wall art.
My creative practice has evolved into a home for many interests:
✧ Folk-art–influenced digital illustrations
✧ Surface pattern design collections, including my “Abundance” series
✧ Handcrafted polymer clay earrings and air-dry clay wall art
✧ Fine art prints and original paintings
✧ Fantasy-inspired artwork, such as my piece featuring a Black woman in a magical, nature-filled space
Alongside my studio practice, I’m also a K–12 art teacher and teaching artist, guiding students to explore their creativity, build confidence, and express themselves in meaningful ways. I’ve taught summer art camps, created structured lesson sequences for older students, and developed daily project-based learning for younger students. My teaching philosophy centers on accessibility, curiosity, and giving students room to experiment.
Across every creative path—illustration, teaching, design, or handmade craft—my mission remains the same: to create art that feels warm, imaginative, and rooted in storytelling, and to help others discover their own creative voice
Thanks for being here. I’m excited to share this journey with you.
