Art is not about perfection — it’s about free expression, exploration, and discovery. Every student has creative potential waiting to be unlocked.

My Role as an Educator

I see myself as a guide, cheerleader, and problem-solver for my K-12 art students. I’m there to:

  • Demonstrate techniques clearly so students have the tools they need
  • Encourage students to step outside their comfort zones
  • Celebrate their unique visions and creative choices
  • Support them through challenges without taking over their work

What I Value in My Classroom

Hands-On Learning: Students learn best by doing. I believe in thorough demonstrations followed by ample time for students to explore, build, and create at their own pace.

Student Ownership: When a student can envision where their artwork will hang before it’s even finished, that’s magic. I nurture that sense of ownership and pride in their creations.

Process Over Perfection: The journey matters more than the destination. I want students to embrace experimentation, make discoveries, and find joy in the creative process.

Safe Risk-Taking: Growth happens outside the comfort zone. I gently push students who say “I can’t” to try anyway, creating a space where it’s safe to explore and express freely.

Ultimate Goal

I want my students to leave my classroom as explorers—confident in their ability to express themselves, willing to try new things, and equipped with art as a lifelong outlet for creativity and self-expression.

Teaching is most rewarding when I see a student’s eyes light up with excitement about what they’ve created and can’t wait to share it with the world.
